Jeff Martin

Jeff’s fascination with radio began when he first heard Radio Caroline – sitting on Margate beach with his grandma listening to the station on her transistor radio.
She pointed out to sea and said that the music he was listening to was coming from a boat somewhere out there. From that day, he was hooked on radio, growing to love Caroline, London, Luxembourg and Swinging Radio England but his favourite station was Radio Northsea International.Jeff says, “I have a real passion for the music of the 1960s & 1870s, the two greatest music decades. Such a wide range of musical genres in the 60s & 70s. I still get a massive kick out of playing these songs on Radio Mi Amigo.

“I am now semi-retired but still manage the Community Station Erewash Sound that I co-founded 20 years ago. I also produce a podcast called Radio Rollback, that celebrates the great days of music radio from the 60s, 70s, 80s. It features recordings from stations and interviews with the people who created that radio.

“I still love my vinyl collection, especially 45s and still collect them. I also like to play a bit of golf (badly) and support Brighton & Hove Albion.”

You can hear Jeff Martin’s latest daytime show on Sundays at midday, repeated at 6pm.
