Kevin Dinnigan

Kevin began his music career in Sheffield, UK, stepping into the spotlight in the 70s as a Saturday night DJ at one of the city’s most popular nightclubs. After honing his skills at various pubs and clubs as a mobile DJ, he seized a golden opportunity and made the most of it.

Following a successful two-year stint at the Genevies/Mona Lisa venue, Kevin landed an audition for the full-time position of Resident DJ/Compere at the Top Rank Suite – Steelys Disco – and got the job. This entertainment hub was a colossal draw, welcoming a whopping 2,500 party-goers every Saturday night, making it one of the largest clubs in England. On Sundays, he took the helm of the Sunday Rock Show, featuring iconic bands of the 70s like Slade, The Police, Dave Edmunds Rockpile, The Stranglers, and The Clash, to mention just a few.

In December 1979, Kevin set off for Australia on a one-year visa, never to return to the UK for work. He now resides in Perth, Western Australia, and has spent the years working in Australian radio and with various hybrid stations across the UK.

Kevin expresses great enthusiasm for Radio Mi Amigo, stating that it perfectly aligns with his musical taste. He eagerly looks forward to presenting his Solid Gold Show every Monday at 9 AM UK time.

Kevin presents a new Solid Gold show every Monday at 9am, repeated at 3pm.

    Robin Dee

Robin Dee hosts 3 shows over the weekend on Radio Mi Amigo – Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Robin says, “It’s a pleasure to be here bringing you radio like it used to be in the good old days of offshore radio when the original Radio Mi Amigo broadcast to the UK and Europe from the MV Mi Amigo in the North Sea. Now we have a beautiful vessel, the Light Vessel LV18 afloat in Harwich Harbour, Essex, and broadcasting to the world.

“A little bit about me? How long have you got? Very briefly, a lifetime of experience in radio presentation and production over the years, beginning with hospital radio, then local commercial radio, progressing into internet radio which I have been very active in since 1999. All of this alongside my main careers of car salesman, used car dealership proprietor, retail petroleum equipment engineer, and finally, truck driver.”

Now retired, Robin can dedicate his time to his first love – radio!

As for music tastes? All 60s and 70s, and finding obscure forgotten tracks. Robin particularly likes delving deep into artists’ album tracks and finding stuff he’s never heard before, before making sure you hear it too!

Robin adds: “Other interests? Radio, music, cycling, classic cars, dining out, oh – and did I say radio?”

      Chris Cooper

Chris has been on the fringes of radio for a long time, starting with a hospital station in 1978, followed by landbased pirate radio. Offshore radio beckoned, with spells on the Voice of Peace from ‘Somewhere in the Mediterranean’ in 1987, and Radio Caroline from the North Sea in 1989/90.

During the 1990’s Chris was involved in various Restricted Service Licence stations in his home town of Birmingham. Due to life commitments, he left radio for 20 years, before being introduced to the LV18 in 2017, since when he has been part of the Radio Mi Amigo Team.

Chris also presents a weekly show on Radio Seagull, based on a sister lightship, the LV8, in The Netherlands. There is nothing quite like broadcasting from a ship. Chris says he feels honoured to have presented shows from four floating radio stations!

You can hear Chris Cooper’s latest daytime show on Saturdays at 7am, repeated at 1pm. Chris also has an album orientated show on Saturday nights at 11pm, repeated at 5am each Sunday morning.

          Steve Jenner

Steve Jenner is a former ILR senior presenter and half of two brothers who were founding directors of two FM ILR stations covering Derbyshire’s Peak District and East Staffordshire. He claims to understand more about the listening habits of sheep than any other living person.

As former radio and TV ‘talking head’ for a major language campaign organisation, he’s been heard on over 80% of BBC local radio stations with paid appearances on BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Sky, CNN and Russian state TV amongst others. He’s been on the famous red BBC Breakfast sofa 5 times.

After selling the stations, Steve went on to present for Radio Caroline, North and Flashback for over three years, performing 10 live shows from Ross Revenge and pre-recording many more for overnight transmission, acting as occasional guide to visitors on broadcast weekend tours.

Since then he is grateful his retirement has been disturbed by a dozen or more excellent radio stations inviting him to join them, one being LV18 Radio Mi Amigo, for whom he presents a weekly show and joined the on–board team for live ‘all vinyl 45s’ shows from the deck of the LV18: Steve is one of very few DJs who have presented live shows from the decks of the two boats moored around the UK coast still used for broadcasting music from the offshore years.

His initial broadcasting experience was on a highly – rated Nottingham onshore pirate station. Steve presents an early weekday breakfast show for his local community Staffordshire / Cheshire DAB station Churnet Sound and was involved in the sale of a Peak District online radio station he helped his brother set up.

Steve’s written or co-written four books about music and radio, one making UK number 1 on Amazon’s relevant sales chart. Until recently he was a contributor to a top London – based music review website, he was invited by Derbyshire County Council’s museum service to stage an exhibition about the development of radio in the Peak District and Nottinghamshire County Council recently accepted many broadcasting artefacts which were in his possession into museum stock for display.

Married to Sue for 45 years and counting, they have grown up children and rapidly growing grandchildren. He loves doing whatever he likes.

You can hear Steve Jenner’s latest daytime show on Fridays at 9am, repeated at 3pm on Friday. There’s a second chance to hear this show on Mondays at 11am, repeated at 5pm.
Steve has a new weekly evening show at 7pm on Mondays, starting on 24th February 2025. In this show he looks at the tracks released before March 1964, before the pirates arrived offshore. This show is repeated at 1am GMT on Tuesday.
